West Lincoln takes pair from Enterprise

Jamie Byrd fired in a game-high 20 points Thursday night todirect the visiting West Lincoln Bears to a 61-35 win over theEnterprise Yellow Jackets in varsity basketball action. The Bearsare 4-2 on the season.

In girls play, Talashia Fells and Tatianna Marshall netted 12points each in the Lady Bears’ 60-42 victory over the Lady Jackets.Fells recorded a double-double, pulling down 12 rebounds. WestLincoln’s girls are 2-4.

West Lincoln’s Brett Rushing and Jeremy Byrd scored 17 pointsapiece. Rushing had a double-double adding 10 rebounds, 2 stealsand 2 assists. Jamie Byrd collected 8 rebounds, made 6 steals andhad 2 assists. Jeremy Byrd also pulled down 8 rebounds.

“We had a terrible second quarter,” said West Lincoln coach LaneYoung. “We could not score. We refocused in the third quarter andid well offensively and defensively to set the tone.”

For 1-5 Enterprise, Austin Everett and Timothy McCoy led with 7points apiece.

“We played a real solid first half,” said Enterprise boys coachJosh Bass. “We played a good defense and blocked out. We came outand played sloppy in the second half. We made some bad decisions inthe second half.”

West Lincoln 62, Enterprise 42

Hannah Knouse pumped in 10 points for the Bears.

“We did some good stuff offensively and defensively,” saidYoung. “We had a good team effort.”

For 4-3 Enterprise, Tara Paden led with 9 points and 3 rebounds.Lacey Orr finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds.

“My girls played hard,” said Enterprise girls coach JillNations. “I felt like we played better than we did last time wefaced West Lincoln. We just did not rebound and we missed our freethrows.”

Junior high games

West Lincoln thumped Enterprise 36-18 in the junior high boysgame.

Cardell Porter paced West Lincoln with 10 points.

Landon Norman scored 7 points for Enterprise.

In the girls game, Enterprise clipped WestLincoln 35-14.

Callie Cole led Enterprise with 11 points. Marisa Pruski netted3 for West Lincoln.
