Co-Lin collects huge wins over Delgado

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves had noill affects from the 10-day holiday layoff as they disposed of theDelgado (La.) Community College Lady Dolphins 85-32.
The Co-Lin Wolves won their fifth straight game behind freshmanTrent Hutchin’s game-high 25 points, including 5 treys, as theWolves defeated the Delgado (La.) Community College Dolphins80-54.

The Lady Wolves (6-1) never trailed in the game as they built a40-11 halftime lead. Coach Gwyn Young was able to substitutefrequently and often. Co-Lin shot 53 percent from the field andoutrebounded the Lady Dolphins 48-44.
“We played a good game after the layoff,” said Young. “Everyplayer got an opportunity to play and score. We need to work ongetting smarter and playing harder all the time.”
Sophomore post Kristin Ellis scored 8 of her game-high 12 pointsin the first half. She added 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Alisha Masonled Co-Lin on the backboards with 7 rebounds. Playmaker ReishaBullock dished out 3 assists.
Dominque Davis led the Lady Dolphins with 9 points, including 33-pointers.
Co-Lin 80, Delgado 54
The Dolphins kept it close in the first half pulling within 2 atthe 12:09 mark in the first half, but that’s as close as they wouldget as the Wolves led 41-29 at halftime.
Co-Lin went on a 16-0 run to start the second half to go up57-29. Delgado finally got on the board when Ricardo Porter hit 2free throws at the 13:22 mark.
“We are where I want us to be in terms of understanding the gameat both ends,” said Coach Sims. “Defensively in the second half wemade things happen and got some easy baskets.”
The Wolves shot 63 percent from the field. Hutchin went 9-11from the field, 5-6 from the behind the 3-point arc. FreshmanLawanski Newsome followed Hutchin with 16 points. Sophomore GregTruvillion had a double-double chipping in 15 points and pullingdown 11 rebounds.
Leading Delgado was Troy Bertrand with 13 points.
Co-Lin travels to Booneville Saturday to play NortheastMississippi Community College.
