Enterprise boys, BC girls nail wins

BOGUE CHITTO — Enterprise sophomore center Austin Everettrecorded a double-double Friday night in the Yellow Jackets’ 47-29over the Bogue Chitto Bobcats. Everett fired in 19 points andpulled down 10 rebounds.

In the girls contest, Bogue Chitto’s Darcy Miller pumped in 16points and made 5 steals to lead the ‘Cats to a close 49-46 victoryover the Lady Jackets.

Bogue Chitto entertains Loyd Star Tuesday night for 4 games,beginning at 4 p.m. with the junior varsity girls.

Enterprise, Bogue Chitto and Loyd Star will begin playThursday-Saturday in the Lincoln County Round-Robin Tournament atJack L. Case Gymnasium at West Lincoln.

Bogue Chitto 49, Enterprise 46

With 19 seconds left to play, Enterprise’s Ann Marie Cole went 1for 2 from the free throw line to cut the Bogue Chitto lead to1-point, 47-46. Darcy Miller was fouled with 1.1 seconds left andnailed a pair of free throws for the 49-46 lead and win.

“We hustled the whole game,” said Bogue Chitto girls coachChristi Terrell. “The effort was there. We still made a lot ofmistakes.”

The ‘Cats (2-2) held a slim 9-8 over the Jackets in the firstquarter. Enterprise outscored Bogue Chitto 17-16 in the second halfto tie the game 25-all at the half. The ‘Cats went on a 14-7scoring run in the third quarter to carry a 7-point, 39-32,advantage going into the fourth quarter.

“My girls played hard,” said Enterprise girls coach JillNations.

“We have to make our free throws (12-26).”

Contributing to the Bogue Chitto win with 8 points and 13rebounds was Shelby Tobias. Making 5 steals was Adrienne Hall.

Enterprise (4-3) got 10 points apiece from Tara Paden and LakenRawls. Netting 7 points were Lacey Orr and Karla Hux.

Enterprise 47, Bogue Chitto 29

The Jackets (2-5) and the Bobcats (0-3) struggled in the firstquarter and were tied 9-all. Enterprise picked up the tempo theremaining 3 quarters for a 24-12 lead at the half and a 30-19 leadat the end of the third.

“We protected the ball well tonight,” said Enterprise boys coachJosh Bass. “All the kids gave us their best effort tonight. Theyplayed as a team.”

Scoring 8 points and making 5 steals for the Jackets was JamieSmith. Jeremy Smith finished with 7 points and 5 assists.

Bogue Chitto,coached by Andrew Smithie, got 6 points apiece fromJustin London, Brian Robinson and Byron Kersee.

In junior high action, the Enterprise girlsbeat Bogue Chitto 48-15 and the Bobcats stopped the Jackets35-20.
