Jerome H. ‘Bip’ White

Jerome H. “Bip” White, 86, died Dec. 4, 2007, at the G.V.(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on May22, 1921, to Martin L. White and Maude Parkman White.
He was a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. Asa corporal in the Mississippi Army National Guard, in Jackson, hewas inducted into federal service on Nov. 25, 1940, by order of thePresident of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt. His assignedunit, Company F, 155th Infantry Regiment, 31st Dixie Division,along with other like units, was transferred to Camp Blanding, Fla.He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served hiscountry honorably for 26 years with combined service in the Armyand Air Force with many and varied assignments in the UnitedStates, Europe and Asia. He was a Mason and a member of Pearl LodgeNo. 23, Jackson. He was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Churchin Sontag.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother; and foursisters.
Survivors are his wife, Edna Mason White, of Sontag; his son,Keith White, of Madison; his daughters, Jaime Watford, of Jackson,and Lynn Gandy, of Hazlehurst; and his two grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. White will be held at a laterdate.
