Services for Ernest Everette “Pete” Flowers are 11 a.m. Tuesday,Dec.11, at Moak Creek Baptist Church in Summit. Burial with fullmilitary honors will be held in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time ofservice.

Mr. Flowers died Dec. 8, 2007, at Camellia Estates in McComb. Hewas born to Larry Clinton Flowers and Claudia Mae TrevillionFlowers on Dec. 20, 1925, in Wilkinson.

Mr. Flowers was a May 1944 graduate of Beech Stand High Schooland entered basic training at Camp Shelby in June for World War II.He served in the U.S. Army Infantry, Third Division, during WorldWar II, and was awarded the Purple Heart, the EAMETO Medal, GoodConduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged inMay of 1946. He went on to graduate from Delgado College with awelding specialty. He met Nora Geraldine “Gerry” McGuffee andmarried in 1955. His only child, “Sonny,” was also a special giftfor him. Pete lived in Algiers and worked for Todd Ship Yard for 40years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Algiers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LarryClinton Flowers Jr.; one sister Adris Flowers Morris D’Aquila.

He is survived by his wife; his son; sisters, Mary F. Carter andRuth F. Welsh, of Woodville; and Vivian Mae Brinson, of Kissimmee,Fla.; brother-in laws, Milton F. D’Aquila, of Woodville, and EdBrinson; nephews, Larry Clinton Flowers III, William Vandy MorrisIII and Haynes Edward Brinson; nieces, Claudia Carter Reed, ConnieCarter Waters and special niece and caregiver Kay D’Aquila Smith,who shared his birthday.
