Collins All-Area MVP

Franklin County Bulldog quarterback Jamie Collins and LawrenceCounty Cougar running back Kendrick Hardy helped direct theirrespective teams to winning seasons this year.
Collins guided the defending Class 3A state football champBulldogs back to the state championship game, falling to Louisville21-7. Franklin County finished the season with a 12-3worksheet.
Hardy led Lawrence County to a 10-2 record and second place inthe regular season in Region 6-4A.
For his accomplishments, Collins has been named the DAILYLEADER’S Most Valuable Player and Hardy is the Offensive Player ofthe Year on the 2007 All-Area Team which is composed of playersoutside Lincoln County.
The Dream Team, consisting of players outside of Lincoln County,was selected by members of the DL sport staff with import providedby area high school and college coaches.
Joining Hardy in the offensive backfield are Jordan Hunt ofFranklin County, Brandon Greer of Copiah Academy and Roy Williamsof Wesson.
Dane Hogan of Parklane and Ryan Tudor of Franklin County are thewide receivers.
Also working at quarterback are Anthony Daniels of McComb andDaniel Sims of Copiah Academy.
The offensive linemen include Trey Harvey and Martez Bryant ofLawrence County, James Brown of Amite County, Josey Carithers ofFranklin County, A.J. Freeman of North Pike and Jonathan Grace ofWesson.
Josh Armstreet of Parklane and Percy Turner of Jefferson Countyare the all-purpose players. The return specialist is Anthony Cainof Amite County. Jace Carlock of Franklin County is the placekicker.
Collins (6-4, 210, jr.) sparked the FranklinCounty offense this year rushing 196 times for 1,132 yards (5.8average) and scoring 10 touchdowns. He completed 63 of 137 passesfor 931 yards and 9 touchdowns.
“Jamie had a great year,” said DAILY LEADER All-Area Coach ofthe Year Grady McCluskey. “He really helped us a lot He improved onoffense drastically. Hopefully, he will continue to improve.”
Collins was named Division 7-3A Offensive Player of the Year. Hewas selected to the MAC All-State First Team Offense.
Hardy (6-1, 225, jr.) led the Cougar running game with 175carries for 2,103 yards (12.02 per carry average) and scored 29touchdowns. He was selected to the Mississippi Association ofCoaches All-State Second Team Offense.
“Kendrick was our All Division MVP,” said Lawrence County headfootball coach Mike Davis. “He is one of those types of the kidsthat is naturally gifted. He is a quite type of kid.
“He is a pleasure to be around,” continued Davis. “You don’tworry about Friday night when the lights come on. What you see onFriday night is what we see every day at practice.”
Anthony Daniels (6-0, 175, sr.) worked atquarterback and defensive back for Coach Randy Martin’s McCombTigers. Daniels completed 56 of 124 passes for 1,037 yards and 12touchdowns. He rushed for 355 yards and 4 TDs for the 7-4Tigers.
Daniel Sims (5-10, 175, sr.) captained atenacious Copiah Academy Colonel football team. Copiah, under firstyear head coach Scotty Cline, came into the season as the 2006defending AA state champs.
Sims excelled in the passing game, completing 133 of 273 passesfor 2,213 yards and 19 TDs (longest 99 yards). On the ground, herushed for 369 yards on 115 carries for 3 touchdowns. His totaloffense was 2,582 yards.
Copiah finished the year 11-2, falling to Centreville in thesecond round of the state playoffs.
Jordan Hunt (6-2, 220, jr.) helped FranklinCounty’s running game with 142 rushes for 857 yards and 13touchdowns.
Brandon Greer (6-0, 195, sr.) rushed thefootball 133 times for 755 yards and scored 8 TDs. He caught 31passes for 374 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Roy Williams (5-10, 190, sr.) was the powerfullback for Wesson with 212 carries for 1,076 yards and 11touchdowns. Williams was voted First Team All District and MACSecond Team All-State.
Dane Hogan (6-1, 175, sr.) worked at widereceiver for Parklane. Hogan had 33 catches for 539 yards and 7TDs. In two years, he finished with 1,522 yards and 22 totaltouchdowns.
Ryan Tudor (5-8, 155, sr.) helped FranklinCounty’s air game with 22 catches for 319 yards and 2touchdowns.
Kiam Magee (6-4, 220, sr.) had 25 receptionsfor 412 yards and 2 TDs for McComb.
Martez Bryant (5-11, 220, sr.) was a big partof Lawrence County’s defense on the lines according to head coachMike Davis.
James Brown (6-5-330, sr.) helped Amite Countyas a key offensive lineman.
Josey Carithers (6-1, 225, sr.) was an impactplayer on Franklin County’s big offensive line.
A.J. Freeman (6-0, 305, sr.) led the North Pikeoffense with pancake blocks according to head coach ChrisSmith.
Trey Harvey (5-9, 250, sr.) anchored theLawrence County line at center.
Jonathan Grace (6-2, 200, sr.) collected 70tackles and 3 sacks and was named to the First TeamAll-District.
Josh Armstreet (5-10, 180, soph.) had a breakout year at Parklane. Armstreet rushed the football 158 times for1,571 yards and 16 TDs. He became the No. 2 rusher in Pioneerhistory.
Percy Turner (6-0, 200, sr.) was named to theRegion 7-3A Team as its Most Valuable Player.
Anthony Cain (5-10, 165, sr.) was the sparkthat drove the Amite County offense. Cain finished with 245 rushesfor 1,236 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Jace Carlock (6-0, 205, jr.) was named theDivision 7-3A Kicker the Year. Carlock kicked 54 extra point and 3field goals for a total of 63 points for Franklin County.
