Services for J. H. Smith, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Monday,Jan. 7, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive location, is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home andMonday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Smith, 85, died Jan. 5, 2008, at the GV (Sonny) MontgomeryVA Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Sept. 25, 1922, toLucius Smith and Rosa Smith.

He was retired from Southern Wholesale and an Army veteran ofWorld War II. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were one sister, Mildred Montgomery; andfour brothers, Alter, Alvie, Lamar and Leroy Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Kathleen Smith, of Brookhaven; his sons,Harry Smith, of Monroe, La., and Tracy Smith and Kenny Smith, bothof Brookhaven; his daughter, Sharon Smith, of Brookhaven; hissister, Ayleen Higdon, of Brandon; four grandchildren; and twogreat-grandchildren.
