BA overpowers Copiah

Brookhaven Academy’s basketball teams met little resistanceTuesday night as the Cougar teams hosted the Copiah AcademyColonels in John R. Gray Gymnasium.
The Cougars cruised past the Colonels 71-41 to improve to 11-4overall and 3-1 in District 4-AA play. The Lady Cougars topped theLady Colonels 51-30 and improved to 16-2 overall and 3-1 indistrict play.

Junior forward Josh Winborne scored a game-high 19 points andpulled down 5 rebounds as the Cougars jumped out to a 7-0 lead andnever looked back. Sawyer Wallace followed with 12 points and 6rebounds and Blaine Roberts added 10 points in support. Sophomoreforward Jamison Powell pulled down 13 rebounds.
Clay Price scored 13 points to lead Copiah. Scotty Reecefollowed with 11 points.

Senior forward Kelli Snider scored a game-high 14 points, going4 for 4 from 3-point range to lead Brookhaven in the 21 point win.Freshman center Anna Katelyn Mangold followed with 12 points and 6rebounds in support. Senior guard Betsy Lynch scored 8 points anddished out 6 assists.
Amanda Pyron scored 8 points to lead Copiah. Ashley Bahamfollowed with 6 points for the Lady Colonels
In junior high girls action, Terah Winborne andAnna Lofton each scored 9 points to lead Brookhaven to a 49-19 win.Summer Calhoun followed with 8 points. Mary Lindsey Magee and LauraBeth Wright each pulled down 9 rebounds.
Elizabeth Cliburn scored 6 points to lead Copiah.
