Services for Louis Hiram Alexander, of Bogue Chitto, will beheld at noon on Monday, Jan. 14, at Pilgrim Bound MissionaryBaptist Church in Picayune with burial in Eighth Street Cemetery inPicayune. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Alexander, 63, died Jan. 7, 2008, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in New Orleans, La., on Sept. 6, 1944,to Louis Alexander and Myrtis Marie Robinson Alexander.

He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School. Heearned a Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn State University; amaster’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi inHattiesburg; and did further study at the University of Tennesseein Knoxville. He was a former educator and coach at Coahoma CountySchools, Yazoo County Schools, in Picayune, at the Piney WoodsSchool and with Brookhaven Public Schools. He was a member ofPilgrim Bound M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Dr. Dorothy Logan Alexander, of BogueChitto; and his son, Garry Jévonn Alexander, of Bogue Chitto.

Smith Quinnon Foster

Services for Smith Quinnon Foster, of Brookhaven, will be heldat 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church inLincoln County with burial in the church cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mr. Foster, 83, died Jan. 10, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lawrence County on April 16, 1924, toQuinnie Foster and Viola Smith Foster.

He was retired from his job in shipping with Delphi Packard. Hewas a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as adeacon. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army andearned a Purple Heart for his service.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, JewellFoster; and his sister, Marguerite Warren.

Survivors are his sons, Wayne Mitchell Foster, Roger Dale Fosterand Jason O’Neal Foster, all of Brookhaven; his brothers, HoustonFoster and Leonard Foster, both of Brookhaven; his sixgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Eva Nell Keene Lambright

Services for Eva Nell Keene Lambright, 77, of Brookhaven, willbe held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. at New Prospect BaptistChurch in Lincoln County, with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs.Lambright died Jan. 10, 2008, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Centerin Jackson.

Visitation is from 5 until 9 p.m. on Saturday at BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive, and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1:30p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lambright was born on July 12, 1930, in Pike County toEstus and Minnie Keene. She was a graduate of Johnston Station HighSchool. Retired from the Brookhaven Public School System, Mrs.Lambright continued to give back to the community by being afaithful volunteer at King’s Daughters Medical Center. A dedicatedmember of New Prospect Baptist Church, she was a Sunday schoolteacher for 38 years and a member of the church choir, and wasoften asked to sing special music during the worship services. Shealso enjoyed painting and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George M.Lambright; her parents; one son, David S. Lambright; and onesister, Maxine Torrix.

She is survived by one son, George E. Lambright, of Brookhaven;one daughter and her husband, Lucy and Matt Shell, of Brookhaven;three grandchildren, George M. Lambright, Scott Lambright andKatherine Shell, all of Brookhaven; four great-grandchildren; onebrother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Charlsie Keene, of McComb;and one sister and brother-in-law, Delilah and G.R. Travis, ofRaymond.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in hermemory to the American Cancer Society.

Daniel Loyd Lofton

Services for Daniel Loyd Lofton, of Brookhaven, will be held at2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel with burial in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in McCallCreek.

Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Lofton, 29, died Jan. 8, 2008, in Stafford, Texas. He wasborn on Aug. 9, 1978.

He was a 1997 graduate of Brookhaven Academy, where he wasall-conference in football, and attended the University of SouthernMississippi. He worked with Noble Drilling in the oil field. He wasa member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Loyd and AnnLofton; and his grandfather, Harold Smith.

Survivors are his father, Robert E. Lofton and wife Suzette; hismother, Judy Smith Hart and husband, C.G.; his brother, Chad Loftonand wife Lorrie; his nephew, Jacob Loyd Lofton; and his niece,Deanna Jewel Lofton.

Luna Nelson Neal

Services for Luna Nelson Neal, of Monticello, will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel inMonticello with burial in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery inMonticello.

Mrs. Neal, 99, died Jan. 9, 2008, at Lawrence County NursingHome. She was born in Lawrence County on May 16, 1908, to IssacNelson and Emily Iona Catt Nelson.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, ThomasLeonard Neal; two infant daughters; five brothers and twosisters.

Survivors are her daughters, Maggie Lou Wilson, of Monticello,and Emily Sue Vickers, of Mammoth, Ark.; three grandchildren andthree great-grandchildren.

David Lee Smith

Services for David Lee Smith, of Tampa, Fla., will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Silver Creek Baptist Church withburial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy T. Smith Jr. willofficiate. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Smith, 28, died Dec. 26, 2007, in Tampa. He was born inSherman, Texas, on April 26, 1979. He was the son of Jimmy E. SmithSr. and Patricia Evans Smith, of the Silver Creek community in PikeCounty.

He was a former employee of the Enterprise-Journal, where heworked in the circulation department. He was of the Baptistfaith.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Hosie and LolaSmith, and D.C. and Donna Evans; one special aunt, Eddie ReginaWilliams; and one nephew, Zachary Landon.

Survivors are his parents; his brothers, Jimmy E. Smith Jr.,Hosea W. Smith and Jeffery Smith, all of Slidell, La., and WalterD. Landon, of Willmar, Minn.; his sisters, Mary Ann Silcio, ofSlidell, Donna Sapp, of Millen, Ga., Carol Cato, of Alabama,Natalie Ortiz, of Chadron, Neb., and Wanona Smith, of Tylertown;his aunt, Nettie Albritton, of Summit; and numerous nieces,nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Pallbearers are Jimmy E. Smith Jr., Hosea Smith, Jeffery Smith,Walter Landon, Josh Smith and Blake Baughman.

Mr. Strong, 82, died Jan. 10, 2008, at Lawrence County Hospital.He was born in Simpson County on Aug. 15, 1925, to Vernon Strongand Mittie Stringer Strong.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of Oakvale BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Survivors are his wife, Johnnie Evans Strong; his sons, TerryStrong, of Silver Creek, Dale Smith, of Pattison, and MichaelSmith, of Ponchatoula, La.; his daughters, Bobby Smith, of Magee,and Kathy Culpepper, of Bay Springs; his four grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.

Opal H. Thomas

Mrs. Thomas, 82, died Jan. 10, 2008, at St. Dominic – JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. She was born on Dec. 13, 1925, toBoaz Herndon and Ennis Taylor Herndon.

She was a retired sitter. She was a member of Easthaven BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, T.J.Thomas; her grandsons, Steve and Jeff Prather; two sisters andthree brothers.

Survivors are her daughters, Barbara McGee and husband Larry, ofBrookhaven, Linda Jenkins, of Houston, Texas, and Joyce Childreyand husband Burt, of Roxboro, N.C.; her grandchildren, ScottPrather, Lori Herring and Candi Raborn, all of Brookhaven, LeeJenkins, of Pearland, Texas, and Cindy Newman, stationed in Japan;her 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
