BA splits with Bowling Green

FRANKLINTON, La. — The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars handedthe Bowling Green Lady Buccaneers a 46-22 Clss AA beating Saturdaynight.
In the varsity boys game, Bowling Green handed Brookhaven atough 56-43 defeat, beating the Cougars for the second time thisseason.
Brookhaven returns to John R. Gray Gymnasium Tuesday night tohost district rival Columbia Academy for four games. The juniorhigh girls tipoff the first game at 4 p.m.
Brookhaven 46, Bowling Green 22
The 18-2 Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray, were led byforward Kelli Snider and center Anna Katelyn Mangold with 16 pointsapiece. Snider also pulled down 4 rebounds and made 6 steals.Mangold added 5 rebounds. Nicole Smith collected 6 points, 6rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists.
Gabby Givens paced the Lady Bucs with 7 points.
Bowling Green 56, Brookhaven 43
Coach Dale Watts and his Cougars (12-5) had a slow start,trailing the Bucs 23-8 in the first quarter. At the half, BowlingGreen led Brookhaven 29-15.
During a 1-minute span, Watts and BA players Daniel Lofton andSawyer Wallace were assessed technical fouls.
For Brookhaven, Blaine Roberts led the way with 13 points. JoshWinborne and Corey Dickerson followed with 8 points apiece.
Daniel Varnado led Bowling Green with 21 points. Trent Grabertnetted 12 points.
Junior high action
The Brookhaven girls (17-0) put away Bowling Green 56-31.
Powering the Lady Cougars with 16 points was Summer Calhoun.Mary Lindsey Magee netted 14 points followed by Anna Lofton with11.
In the boys game, the Cougars (10-4) downed the Bucs 56-43.
Myles Melancon led Brookhaven with a game-high 24 points. CarrTigner netted 16 points followed by Chandler Rogers with 12.
Leading Bowling Green with 24 points was Scott Stafford.Following with 13 points was Dean King.
