Wilkinson sweeps FC

WOODVILLE – It wasn’t pretty but Wilkinson County collected ahardwood sweep of Franklin County in Division 7-3A basketballaction. FCHS lost the girls’ game 49-38, and the boys’ contest55-48.
The Bulldogs resume play tonight hosting South Pike inMeadville’s Bulldog Arena for a division twinbill.
Wilkinson County (14-4, 6-1) roared out to a 27-20 halftime leadand never looked back, as Wildcats senior Kenny Harden scored agame-high 26 points to lead the attack against Franklin County.
Jamie Collins led the Bulldogs with 21 points and Jason Huntadded 11, but still it was enough.
The Wildcats, which will play host to the division next month,moved into a first place tie with Jefferson County in the divisionstandings with the win. FC is currently second.
In the ladies game, Wilkinson County playmakers Toni Anthony andTyeshia Harris combined to score 30 of the Wildcats 55 points toshock the Lady Bulldogs. Anthony had 18 points and Harris 12.
FC senior forward Charlesia Houston had 12 points for the LadyBulldogs, while Paige Webster added 10 in the losing effort.
Coached by Charles Moore, the Lady Bulldogs fall into a secondplace tie with Wilkinson County. The two teams will meet again inMeadville on Tuesday, Jan 28.
