Services for Jimmie F. Garvin, of Traverse City, Mich., are 2p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the serviceat the funeral home.

Mr. Garvin, 69, died Jan. 24, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn in Merkel, Texas, on March 21, 1938, to Angus and Willie(Rhodes) Garvin.

He was an independent A.I. breeder of dairy cattle, managedseveral grocery stories, and most recently was the manager of WestBay Self Storage for 17 years. He was a graduate of Midland HighSchool in Midland, Texas.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Viola Garvin; his siblings, John Garvin,Annie Jones, Evelyn Henley, Juanita Johnson and Charlie Garvin, allof Texas, and Christine Webb, of Oklahoma; his children, GenetteRatcliff, Cynthia Hawley and husband Larry, Sandra Cupit andhusband Gery, and Kathleen Arnold and husband Billy, all ofMississippi, David Stroh and wife Melanie, and Roger Stroh and wifeSuzanne, of South Carolina, Eric Stroh and wife Julie, of Montana,and Melissa Stroh, of Michigan; 31 grandchildren; 39great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Don and ErnaShaff; and many nieces and nephews.
