Services for James Vernon Anding, a lifelong resident ofBrookhaven, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at BrookhavenFuneral Home Chapel on North Jackson Street with burial inEasthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 6 until 10 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Anding, 80, died Jan. 29, 2008, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 30, 1927, to JamesShelton Anding and Minnie Delaughter Anding.

He was a retired professional house painter. He was a veteran ofthe United States Army. He was a member of Souls’ HarborPentecostal Church.

Mr. Anding was well loved by all his family. He was a greatfather, brother, father-in-law and uncle. He was a diligent workerand a man of good character. He was a very meek, sweet, preciousand uncomplaining person. He touched the lives of many people.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Winnie MaudPennington Anding; his son, the Rev. Vernon Eugene Anding; hisbrother, Claude Earl Anding; his sisters, Shirley Anding, BettyJean Anding Foster; and his nephews, Maxie Anding Jr. and DennisFoster.

Survivors are his daughter-in-law, Kathy Anding, of Brookhaven;his brother, Maxie Ray Anding Sr. and wife Bonnie, of Brookhaven;his sister-in-law, Henry Mae Anding, of Brookhaven; his nieces andnephews, Coby (Brandy) Anding, Charity (Mark) Case, Cathy (Brian)Mayberry, Bo Foster, John (Stephanie) Foster, Debbie (Aaron)Vanhoose, Frankie (Tommy) Freeman, Claudette (Clemmie) Johnson,Ellen (Keith) Beard, Stephen (Bonnie) Anding, Jeffrey (Tina) King,and Jonathan King, all of Brookhaven, and CaBriena (Jason) Roberts,of Gonzales, La.; a host of great-nieces and -nephews,great-great-nieces and -nephews, and a host of friends.
