Services for Garland Edward McKenzie, of McComb, will be held at2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at Jones Family Funeral Services inMcComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. The Revs. Richard Boone,Fred Cook and Scott King will officiate.
Visitation is Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of theservice.
Mr. McKenzie, 75, died Feb. 8, 2008, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born on March 22, 1932,in McComb, to Alvie Leslie McKenzie and Jimmie Estelle Jones.
A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, hecherished family gatherings with his children, grandchildren andgreat-grandkids. He was dedicated to serving the Lord; he was afaithful member of First Church of the Nazarene in McComb, whereserved on the church board for 25 years and taught Sunday school.He traveled and sang with the McKenzie Quartet for 26 years. A manof strong convictions, his advice and opinions were valued byfamily and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew andloved him.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Donald RayMcKenzie; and his mother-in-law, Christine Roberts.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Dera Roberts McKenzie, ofMcComb; his father-in-law, the Rev. Thomas Roberts and wife Tammer,of Columbie; his sons; Gerald McKenzie and wife Kris, of Summit,Joe Pat McKenzie, of Nashville, Tenn., and Steve McKenzie and wifeCarla, of McComb; his sisters, Jimmie Lou Jones and husbandHershel, of McComb; Katie Lee Alayon and husband Cecil, of McComb,and Queen Nannie Davis, of McComb; his brothers, Alvie LouisMcKenzie and wife Sandra, of McComb, and William Lamar McKenzie andwife Darla, of Lone Wolf, Okla.; his sister-in-law, Patsy McKenzie,the wife of the late Donald Ray McKenzie, of McComb; his sevengrandchildren, Tommy McKenzie and Kristy McKenzie, of Nashville,Tenn., Jenna McKenzie, of Summit, Justin McKenzie and wife Karen,of Summit, David McKenzie, Daniel McKenzie, of McComb, and AshleyBradwell and husband Corey, of Magnolia; his fourgreat-grandchildren, Beth and Lane McKenzie, of Summit, and Colbyand Clayton Bradwell, of Magnolia.
Pallbearers are David Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, Grant Mobile,Jason McKenzie, Jeremy McKenzie and Larry McKenzie.
