Morgan Seth Allen

Services for Morgan Seth Allen, of Meadville, were 2 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 10, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Bude withburial in Midway Cemetery.

Mr. Allen, 24, died Feb. 7, 2008, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.He was born in Bossier City, La. on Jan. 12, 1984, to Brenda CarolRollins Allen and Tommy Ray Allen.

Preceding him in death was his paternal grandfather, John RayAllen.

Survivors are his mother, Brenda Carol Allen, of Meadville; hisfather, Tommy Ray Allen, of Wesson; his sister, Samantha LynnCarroll and husband Daniel, of Canada; his brother, John StantonAllen and wife Shannon, of Meadville; two stepsisters; onestepbrother; his grandparents, Ruby Nell and Stanton Rollins Jr.and Bettye Allen, of Brookhaven; and several aunts, uncles, nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fitzhugh Lee ‘Hugh’ Neal Sr.

Services for Fitzhugh Lee ‘Hugh’ Neal Sr., of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Brookhaven Funeral Home’s North JacksonStreet location with burial in Monticello City Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Neal, 72, died Dec. 9, 2008, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Lincoln County onMarch 13, 1935, to Fulton Butler Neal and Daisy Maude BristerNeal.

He was a retired meat manager for A&P and Delchamps grocerystores for 45 years. He was a member of Mallalieu United MethodistChurch.

He was involved in the Mason Fair River Lodge No. 203, where heserved as master of the lodge three times. He coached many LittleLeague Baseball teams in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister-in-law,Maxie Case.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Shirley Reid Neal; his son,Dr. Lee Neal Jr. and wife Gretchen, of Brookhaven; his brother,James Farrell Neal and wife Ginnie, of Alamogordo, N.M.; hissister, Thelma Neal Rushing and husband Kenneth, of Brandon; fourgrandsons, who he had great pride and love for, Fulton Harris Neal,13, Ford Reid Neal, 10, Fitz Hulon Neal, 5, and Finley McAllisterNeal, 4; three special nephews, Keith Case and wife Susan, ofWesson, Greg Case and wife Dana, of Monticello, and Amp and StacieCase, of Monticello; his brother-in-law, Wayne Reid and wife Ann,of Pearl; his loving mother-in-law, Lois Reid, of Monticello; andtwo special friends, Curtis Nations and John D. Boyte, both ofBrookhaven.

Richard Charles Philipp

Richard Charles Philipp passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb.4, 2008. Richard, known as “Dick” to his friends and family, was aresident of Lafayette, La., since 1997. The son of Charles andIrene Philipp, Richard was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in ChicagoIll.

Dick was a true member of the “Greatest Generation.” He joinedthe U.S. Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor and was assigned to the90th Seabee Construction Battalion and spent the war in thePacific. Of particular note, he was part of the Iwo Jima landing.After his service was complete, Dick remained active in both theSeabees and the Iwo Jima Veterans Groups and was instrumental inbringing the annual Iwo Jima Veterans Reunion to Lafayette threetimes during the past 10 years.

After the war, he returned to college and was a 1947 graduate ofNorthwestern University. He was always proud of Northwestern Purpleand was an active alumni member. He was married to Jeanne Tyler ofMt. Carmel,

Ill., on Oct. 1, 1949. In 1950 he took his first job in thepaper industry and stayed in that industry for the next 40 years,retiring as a vice president of the Champion Paper Co. One of thehigh points of his career was when he was selected as part of thestart up for the St. Regis Paper Co. in placing the largest papermill in the world on line in Monticello.

During their lives together Jeanne and Dick traveled and livedthroughout the United States, including places as diverse as Mt.Carmel, Ill.; Milwaukee, Wisc.; Wayne, N.J.; Brookhaven; Tacoma,Wash; New York City; and after Dick’s retirement, back to theMississippi Gulf Coast.

Dick is survived by his sister, Barbara Mitacek, of ChicagoIll.; his wife, Jeanne Tyler Philipp; their three sons, ChristopherRichard (Kristina-Carr) Philipp and Douglas Tyler Philipp, ofLafayette, and Brian Ford (Jean) Philipp, of Swansea, Ill. He alsois survived by his only daughter Tammy Ann Philipp (Allen) Leger,also of Lafayette. He has seven grandchildren, Robin Carr, GeoffreyCleveland, Benjamin Edward Philipp, Spencer Tyler Philipp, MaryGrace Leger, Madeleine Germaine Philipp and Zachary RichardPhilipp.

Dick was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Hewas a master of the Internet. He loved live theater and was one ofthe founding members of Brookhaven’s Little Theatre. Dick acted anddirected in several plays and wrote one play, “Captain Jack,” aboutlife in Mississippi after the Civil War. He was on the board ofdirectors of the Milton Water Company. He could always be foundwherever good friends, good food and good conversation were to behad. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held for his family andfriends at a later date. Martin and Castille Funeral Home inLafayette, is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas ‘Tom’ White

Services for Thomas “Tom” White, of Monticello, were 2 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 10, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag with burial inthe church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in chargeof arrangements.

Mr. White, 68, died Feb. 8, 2008, at Lawrence County Hospital.He was born on Dec. 22, 1939, to William Richard White and WinnieKeene White.

He was a retired medical technologist for Lawrence CountyHospital. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, CharlesWhite Sr. and Richard “Bud” White; and his sister, Martha NellKeenan.
