In addition to ongoing construction activities elsewhere inBrookhaven, city aldermen recently heard about a novel idea toplace an assisted living facility on the site of last year’sdowntown fire.
The project, while still in the very preliminary stages, wouldsee a five-story building constructed to house residents who needassistance in their daily activities. Lower floors would includesome amenities to further benefit residents.
While many questions remain to be asked and details to be workedout, the facility could be a positive step in continuing efforts topromote Brookhaven’s downtown. At this early point, the projectsounds worthy of more consideration and discussion.
