Services for Gladys Watts Byrd, of Brookhaven, will be held at11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Byrd, 89, died Feb. 27, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn on Oct. 24, 1918, to Marshall Watts and Beulah SmithWatts.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, CarlosWatts and J.W. Watts; and her sister, Effie Watts.

Survivors are her husband of 72 years, Louis “Tuck” Byrd, ofBrookhaven; her sons, Cortez Byrd and wife Barbara, of Brookhaven,and Bruce Byrd and wife Mary Davis, of Wesson; her sister, MarieSims, of Kentwood, La., and Helen James, of Brookhaven; hergrandchildren, Terry Byrd and wife Liz, of Brookhaven, PatriciaCarter and husband Courtland, of Sarasota, Fla., Pam Byrd-King, ofWesson, Tonya Stewart and husband Gary, of Brookhaven, Sophie Adamand husband Timmy, of Perkiston, and Carroll “Sissy” Martin, ofMandeville, La.; and 12 great-grandchildren and onegreat-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist ChurchBuilding Fund.
