Curtis P. ‘C.P.’ Smith

Services for Curtis P. “C.P.” Smith, of Natchez, will be held at2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at First Pentecostal Church withburial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery in Brookhaven. TheRev. James Johnson will officiate. Laird Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church and onWednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Smith, 73, died March 8, 2008, in Jackson. He was born inBrookhaven on Feb. 27, 1935, to Earl J. and Lillie Louise LairdSmith.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired fromArmstrong Tire and Rubber Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, LouisSmith and Shirley Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Janet Smith, of Natchez; his daughter,Regina Rand and husband Donald, of Natchez; his son, Reggie Smithand wife Denise, of Vidalia, La.; his grandchildren, Ashlea Rand,Shelby Smith and Bo Smith; his sisters, Pauline Falvey, ofBrookhaven, Yvonne Cothren, of Natchez, and Marjorie Haney, ofCrosby; a special aunt, Tommie Laird, of Natchez; very specialin-laws; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Gary Smith, Adrian Day, Kenny Jackson, LavonneHamilton, Tracey Whitehead and Bubba Dill.

Honorary pallbearers are Jack Byrd, Jack Whitehead, andemployees of Great River Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Edward Daly, Dr. JohnP. O’Brien, Dr. Kenneth Stubbs and employees at Natchez RegionalMedical Center; the employees and doctors of the MICU at UniversityMedical Center; Dr. Rajesh Patel; special nurses Shauna and Connie;and employees of Select Specialty Hospital.
