A memorial service for Henryetta Kayes Townsend, of Brookhaven,will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at the chapel ofFirst United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Townsend, 95, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at HospiceMinistries. She was born in Norfield on Aug. 12, 1912.

She attended Whitworth College and graduated from William Carey.She earned her master’s degree from the University of Virginia.Mrs. Townsend taught special reading in the Arlington, Virginiapublic school system. She retired in 1973, moving back toBrookhaven. She was a member of First United Methodist Church inBrookhaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dabney WinstonTownsend Sr.

Survivors are her sons, Dabney Winston Townsend Jr., ofSavannah, Ga., and Henry Kayes Townsend, of Manassas, Va.; and hergranddaughter, Victoria Kayes Townsend.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church inBrookhaven.
