Services for McNair “Weed” Smith Sr., of Brookhaven, are 11a.m., Monday, March 10, at Mt. Olive M.B. Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary.
Mr. Smith, 83, died March 5, 2008, at his residence. He was bornon May 10, 1924 to Joe Smith and Luvenia Wells Smith.
He was a retired bricklayer and served in the U.S. Navy duringWorld War II. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, BarbaraDiana Smith; his son, Tommy Lee Sanders; his brothers, Morant,Pearlie, Tyree, Lutious, Troy, Joe Emmitt, Malco, D.D., Woodrow,Annanias, and John Wesley Smith; his sisters, Roxie Kees, DellaJackson and Gladys Barnes; and his stepfather, Ervin London.
Survivors include his sons, James E. Smith, of Chicago, Ill.,Johnny M. Smith, Charles C. Smith, the Rev. Bruce Smith and McNairSmith Jr., all of Brookhaven; his daughters, Phyllis D. Anderson,of Chicago, Vanessa Williams, of Brookhaven, Debra Tobias, of BogueChitto, and Tomora Allen, of Brookhaven; his sister, Annie PearlBradford, of Chicago; 49 grandchildren; and 52great-grandchildren.
