Rally lifts Lady ‘Cats

BOGUE CHITTO — Exploding for six, fifth-inning runs, the BogueChitto Lady ‘Cats rallied past West Lincoln’s Lady Bears 10-7Monday night on Stan Long Field. They were powered by left fielderCaitlin Owen who singled twice and doubled in the Division 8-1Ashowdown.

“The fifth inning killed us,” said West Lincoln coach AndrewRedd. “We did not make the plays we needed to to win. Our pitchersallowed too many walks,” referring to 6 free passes to firstbase.

Redd’s Lady Bears (4-4, 3-1) carried a 6-2 lead into the fourthinning. BC scored twice in the fourth and tacked 6 more runs on thescoreboard in the fifth.

Kelli Howard pitched the win, fanning 4 batters and walking 4.Alexis Cook (2 Ks, 5 BBs) started on the mound for West Lincoln andtook the loss. Shelby Lofton (O K, 1 BB) replaced Cook.

“It was a classic Bogue Chitto-West Lincoln battle,” said BCcoach Scott Leggett. “This game could have gone either way. Bothteams hit the ball and played hard.”

The Lady ‘Cats (10-3, 4-1) finished with 13 hits. Toy Smith,Jessie Miller, Bradi Davis and Darcy Miller had 2 hits apiece.

Taylor Crews doubled and singled for West Lincoln. Holli Smithdoubled. Cook collected 3 hits.

BC hosts Enterprise Thursday for a division test. West Lincolnresumes play next Monday against Salem.

In the JV game, West Lincoln shut out BC 13-0.Anna Smith (3 Ks, 5 BBs) tossed the not-hit win. Toy Smith (6 Ks, 3BBS) absorbed the loss.

The Lady Bears got 2 singles from MaKayla Smith and Katie Smith.Marisa Pruski doubled and Kaitlyn Doty singled.
