Services for Simmie Brown, of Bude, are 2 p.m. Monday, March 31,at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Bude with burial in SwearingtonCemetery in Amite County.

Visitation is Monday from noon until the time of the service atthe funeral home.

Mr. Brown, 78, died March 24, 2008, at Meadville ConvalescentHome. He was born in Franklin County on Oct. 10, 1929, to Jim andNancy Brown.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers; andfour sisters.

Survivors are his son, Larry Brown, of Germany; his sister,Lucenda Swearington, of Smithdale; one granddaughter; onegreat-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.

Services for Ernest Montgomery, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Monday, March 31, at Brookhaven Funeral Home’s Jackson StreetLocation Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Church of ChristCemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Montgomery, 95, died March 27, 2008, at Shady Oaks NursingHome. He was born in Lincoln County on April 29, 1912, to ThomasFrancis Montgomery and Betty Walker Montgomery.

He was retired from Southern Wholesale Company with over 40years of service and was also a farmer. He was a member ofHillcrest Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred Smith Montgomery;his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and ClaudeBennett Smith, of Brookhaven; his sister, Ila Ruth Dunaway, ofBrookhaven; his grandsons, Scott Smith, of Clinton, and SteveSmith, of Edmond, Okla.; and his great-grandchildren, Riley andLaura Smith, both of Clinton.

Clarence Smith Jr.

Services for Clarence Smith Jr., of Monticello, are 3 p.m.Sunday, March 30, at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Smith, 81, died March 28, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn in Walthall County on Feb. 1, 1927, to Clarence Ray Smith andCavie Lillian Dunaway Smith.

He was a retired lab technician for Georgia-Pacific inMonticello and was in the paper making industry for 39 years. Hewas an active member of New Hope Baptist Church and a member of theBogalusa, La. American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Irene Franklin Smith; hissons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Mary Smith and Len Ray andMargaret Ann Smith, all of Monticello; his grandchildren, LaurieSmith and Kent Young, Karen Smith and Brent Collins, Tammy Smithand Brent Prince, and Christopher Smith; and hisgreat-grandchildren, Ethan and Marlie Young, Mattie Prince,Kathrine Collins, and Kiley Rae and Kassidy Ann Smith.

Services for Cloteel Bland Washington, of Meadville, are 1 p.m.Sunday, March 30, at New Fork United Methodist Church in Meadvillewith burial in Old Sixteen Cemetery in Roxie. Marshall Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Washington, 73, died March 22, 2008, at Belhaven NursingHome in Jackson. She was born in the Oak Grove Community inFranklin County on Oct. 11, 1934, to Isclore Bland and LeoraCausey.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, DanielWashington; and one son, Daniel Washington Jr.

Survivors are her daughter, Ora Bell Washington; her sons, LouisWashington and wife Christina, and Michael Washington and wifeLinda; her sister, Orcola Rogers and husband Sonny; her brother,Ray Bland and wife Gwen; six grandchildren; and many nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.
