Greenies stuff error-prone Bears

The visiting Natchez Cathedral Green Wave rocked the WestLincoln Bears 14-2 Tuesday night in Division 8-1A baseball action.The Bears committed 7 errors to the Greenies’ 1.

“We did not play very well,” said Steve Barrington. “But giveNatchez Cathedral credit, they capitalized on all our mistakes. Wewill get better and improved for Friday night.”

West Lincoln (11-6, 6-1) invades Cathedral (12-2, 7-0) Fridaynight. The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. followed by thevarsity at 7.

“We hit the ball well tonight,” said Cathedral coach CraigBeesley. “This was the best we hit all year. Preston pitched a goodgame for us. We played good defense tonight as well.”

Preston Edwards posted the win with 6 strikeouts and no walks.Tyler Case fanned 2 and walked 2 in the loss.

Matt Magee and Brett Rushing led the Bears with a double apiece.Zack Williams singled.

At the plate, Hunter Foster led the Greenies with a double and apair of singled. Aaron White and Edwards each doubled and single.Doubling were Braxton Fondren, Jessie Morrison, Caleb Johnson andDillion White. Hitting safely was Cole Junkin.

Junior varsity play

Cathedral edged West Lincoln 3-2.

Tyler Morrison was the winning hurler with 6 strikeouts and 3walks. Jacob Lee, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walks, and Magee, 2strikeouts and no walks, saw action in the losing cause.

Sawyer Evans led the Bears with a double. Sawyer Pepper hitsafely.

For the Greenies, Rudy Lazaurus and Morrison led with 2 singlesapiece.
