Dr. Mel Flowers, longtime radiologist at the University ofMississippi Medical Center died at home on March 30, 2008, ofmetastatic prostate cancer. He was 74 years old.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shari FlowersSchmidt.

Survivors are his wife, Marilyn Case Flowers; his daughter,Susan Flowers Ulrich and her husband Bill Ulrich; his son-in-law,Mike Schmidt; his grandsons, Josh and Colton Schmidt, all of theGluckstadt community in Madison County. He is also survived by twocousins, Doris Alford of Jackson, and Celia Hansen of Atlanta, Ga.,and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church inGluckstadt on Wednesday, April 2, with interment in the churchcemetery.
