FC lifters enter State Meet

MEADVILLE – The Franklin County Bulldogs will look to bring homethe gold Saturday in the Class 3A state power-lifting tournament inthe Mississippi Coliseum.

Coached by David Tadlock, who led Vicksburg High to the Class 5Apower-lifting championship in 2006, the Bulldogs send five membersto the meet in Riccon Cameron, Quatrell Cameron, Brad Covington,Robert Curry, and Bobby O’Quinn.

“We’ve got a good group of kids here that will represent uswell,” said Tadlock, who also doubles as an assistant on thefootball and track and field team.

“South Pike and Wilkinson County will be the favorites, I’msure. But, we’re going to give it our best shot.”

Lifting begins in the smaller divisions Saturday morning inJackson, followed the bigger divisions in the afternoon.

“It’s going to be an all day event,” said the candid Tadlock.”Our kids have been working hard. We’ve got some guys that’s goingto surprise some people.”

The Bulldogs have had a member of its team collect gold the lasttwo years. D.J. Shaw (West Virginia football signee) took firstplace in the 285-pound class in 2006, while Gary Rogers equaledthat accomplishment last year in 2007.
