Bogue Chitto whips Salem twice

BOGUE CHITTO — Pitcher Seth Avants directed the Bogue ChittoBobcats to a 14-4 win over the Salem Wildcats with 2 home runs, adouble and a single in the second game of a division baseballdoubleheader Thursday night.
On the mound, Avants recorded 10 strikeouts and walkedseven.
In the first game, it took the Bobcats 3.5 innings to posted a16-3 win over the Wildcats.
Saturday, Bogue Chitto hots Enterprise for 2 games. The juniorvarsity game begins at 11a.m. followed by the varsity at 1 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 14, Salem 4
Seth pitched a great game,” said Bogue Chitto baseball coachAdam Moak. “We did a great job hitting the ball. They were two bigdistrict wins.”
Cole Laird drilled a pair of doubles for the Bobcats in thesecond game. James Anderson, Martin and Brown each doubled andsingled. Kevin Brothern tripled. Robert Anderson singled twice.
Salem led Bogue Chitto 4-0 in the top of the first inning. TheBobcats scored 1 run in the second and third innings to cut thedeficit to 4-3. The hosts added 2 runs in the fourth for a 5-2 leadthen 2 more in the sixth for a 7-4 lead and finished the game with7 runs in the sixth.
Bogue Chitto 16, Salem 3
In the first game, Michael Martin was the winning pitcher with 6strikeouts and 3 walks. D.J. Harness and Garreth Murphy combined 6strikeouts and 6 walks in the loss.
“Michael pitched a great game and we hit the ball well,” saidMoak.
Avants homered and singled for the Bobcats. Martin doubled 3times. Doubling and singling was Hunter Ginn. Scotty Brown and JoshCraft doubled. Robert Anderson singled.
Jess Phillips singled for Salem.
