Toxey Hall ‘Cotton’ Ward

Services for Toxey Hall “Cotton” Ward, of Monticello, will beheld at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at Wilson Funeral Home inMonticello with burial in Arm Cemetery in Silver Creek.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Ward, 92, died April 6, 2008, at Rankin General MedicalCenter in Brandon. He was born in Lawrence County on Oct. 7, 1915,to Sebron Benton Ward and Emiley Ward Ward.

He worked in the oil field for 45 years before his retirement.He was a 32nd Degree Mason at Silver Creek Lodge and the retiredvice president of Deltide Fishing and Rental Tools. He was a memberof the Baptist faith and Ward Valley Church of God.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Linney EstherSmith Ward; his four sons; his brothers, Tom Ward, Swan Ward, BruceWard and Vent Ward; and his sisters, Damie and Sabie Ward.

Survivors are his sons, Sherman Ward, of Silver Creek, DannyWard and Dr. Joe Ward, both of Monticello; his daughters, JohnnieMunn, of Wesson, and Cathy E. Bryant, of Monticello; his brother,Zolan Ward, of Silver Creek; his 10 grandchildren and threegreat-grandchildren.
