Wesson senior Jonathan Grace drilled a grand slam home run, asolo home run and a double to direct the visiting Wesson Cobras ina 14-13 comeback win over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets Tuesdaynight in Division 6-2A varsity baseball action.

Wesson improved to 12-5 on the season and 7-1 in division play.Enterprise falls to 4-5 in the division and is 8-10 overall.

During the final home game for Enterprise, senior players PeytonGreene, Caleb Foster, Ky Mathis and Matt Price were honored.

Friday night, Enterprise invades Wesson for another divisiontest. The junior varsity game begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by thevarsity at 6:30.

“Enterprise hit the ball tonight,” said Wesson head baseballcoach Hugh Knight. “We were fortunate to win. This was a seesawbattle. This was a good ball game and a high-scoring game.”

Grace hit his solo homer in the top of the first to give Wessona 3-0 lead. Enterprise scored a run in the bottom to cut thedeficit to 3-1.

The Cobras punched in 3 runs in the top of the second for a 6-1lead.

Following 2 scoreless innings, the Cobras added a run in thefifth for a 7-1 lead. The Jackets came back with 3 runs in thefifth to cut the deficit to 7-4.

Sixth inning action saw the visitors score 3 runs for a 10-4lead. The hosts answered back with 7 runs in the bottom for an11-10 lead, sparked by Price’s 3-run home run.

Grace ripped his grand slam homer in the top of the seventh toput Wesson ahead 14-11. Before the Cobras shut down the Jackets inthe bottom of the seventh, Foster ripped a 2-run homer forEnterprise which cut the deficit to 14-13 before the final out

“I am proud of my kids and their effort to battle back,” saidEnterprise coach Seth Lofton. “We played hard and overcameobstacles that did not go our way.”

Caleb Broom (4-2) was the winning hurler with 6 strikeouts and 4walks in four innings. Grace took over in the seventh. He finishedwith 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Greene (3-3) fanned 1 and struck out 1 in the loss. He relievedin the seventh.

For Enterprise, Foster added a double and a single. Tripling andsingling was Ky Mathis. Jeremy Foster singled 3 times. Greenedoubled and singled. Collecting a pair of singles was TravisLeggett. Ryan Kennedy and Trent Herrington singled.

Contributing to the Wesson win with a triple and a single wasBroome. Matt P. Smith doubled twice and singled. Matt S. Smith,Langston Berry and Kyle Cross singled.

Junior varsity play

Wesson handed Enterprise a 7-4 loss in JV action.

Gibb Britt posted the win with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks. In theloss, Jarrett Todd fanned 3 and walked 1 while Ky Burke followedwith 1 strikeout and 2 walks.

Jarrett Todd led the Jackets with a double and a single.Doubling were Clay Russell and Garrett Greer. Jonathan Burns andNathan Foster singled.

Wesson got a double and single from Pat Boone. Gage Wilson andJohn Stevens smashed 2 singles apiece. Doubling were Zack Davis andBlake Tarver. Tyson Wesley and Britt singled.
