Ruby Jewel Kalil

Graveside services for Ruby Jewel Kalil will be held at 11:30a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Riverwood Memorial Park inBrookhaven.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Stricklin-KingFuneral Home in Yazoo City.

Mrs. Kalil, 85, died April 16, 2008, at the G. V. (Sonny)Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in MadisonCounty on Oct. 14, 1922, to Henry Ledlow and Lucinda PageLedlow.

She lived most of her life in Brookhaven and she and her husbandoperated a family-owned grocery store, U Save Market. She was aWomen’s Army Corps veteran of World War II and served inCharleston, S.C. and Atlanta, Ga.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of over 50years, Lewis Anthony Kalil; and her brothers, Robert Ledlow, WillieLedlow and Hubert Ledlow.

Survivors are her son, Lewis J. Kalil and wife Laura, ofBentonia; her granddaughter, Ruby Anne Kalil, of Jackson; hergrandsons, Jamie Lewis Anthony “Tony” Kalil, of Springfield, Mo.,and Christopher Mason Kalil, of Bentonia; her sisters, KathrynPlunkett, of Yazoo City, Earline Setzler, of Louisiana, RoseRichardson, Annette McCullough and Barbara Jones, all of Flora; andnumerous nieces and nephews.

Lynne Johnson Price

Lynne Price, 75, of Brookhaven, died peacefully at her homeThursday, April 17, 2008.

Mrs. Price, widow of William Thomas “Hoppy” Price, was born inLincoln County to Clarence and Erle Jacks Johnson. She was a 1951graduate of Fair Oaks Springs High School and attended LouisianaState University. In 1967 she opened the Brookhaven franchise of H& R Block Tax Service and remained a tax consultant there untilher death.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Mike andRebel Price Marzec of Memphis; Michael and April Price Brady, alsoof Memphis; and Richard and Lauri Price Swan of Rome, New York.”Mima” will be greatly missed by her granddaughter, Emi Brady; andher four grandsons: Boyer Brady, Will and Sam Swan, and KyleMarzec; and her great-granddaughter, Abby Swan. Mrs. Price leavesthree brothers: Edwin Johnson of Brookhaven; C.W. Johnson of Houma,Louisiana; and R.B. Johnson of Tylertown.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home on Jackson Street. Graveside services will be at 11o’clock on Monday, April 21, at Union Hall Baptist ChurchCemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery Fundor to The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven.

Michael G. Smith

Services for Michael G. Smith, of Gonzales, La., will be held at2 p.m. on Friday, April 18, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel with burial in Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery in BogueChitto.

Mr. Smith, 59, died April 14, 2008, in Gonzales. He was born onMarch 22, 1949, to RE Smith and Eileen Kissel Smith.

He was a superintendent with Shaw Maintenance and a member ofWellman Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his nephew, BlaineHamilton.

Survivors are his son, Mike E. Smith and wife Stephanie; hisbrother, Jimmy Smith and wife Angela; his sisters, Sherry Lewis andhusband Steve, Marilyn Wilson and husband Mickey, and KathyHamilton and husband David; his granddaughter, Gracie Lyn Smith; ahost of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Theresia R.Smith.

Carl P. Wactor Sr.

Services for Carl P. Wactor Sr., of Roxie, will be held at 10a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Hamburg Baptist Church in FranklinCounty with burial in Midway Cemetery in Meadville. RiverwoodFamily Funeral Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday beginning at 5 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Wactor, 86, died April 16, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn on July 7, 1921, to James T. Wactor and Dellie FreemanWactor.

He was retired from International Paper Co. He was a member ofHamburg Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, VirginiaBaggett Wactor; four brothers and four sisters

Survivors are his sons, Carl Wactor Jr, and wife Valerie, andthe Rev. James Calvin Wactor and wife Libby, all of Roxie; hisbrother, Ray Wactor and wife Catherine, of Meadville; hisgrandchildren, Candice Riley and husband Toby, of Brandon, MichaelWactor and David Wactor, both of Roxie, Laine Edwards and husbandShad, of DeKalb, Shannon Allen and husband John, of Roxie, andCatlyn Wactor and wife Mary Catherine, of Roxie; and hisgreat-grandchildren William Thomas Riley, Bree Allen, CheyenneEdwards and Justin Edwards; and a number of nieces and nephews.
