Herman Troyce Carter Sr.

Herman Troyce Carter Sr., of Brookhaven, died Tuesday evening,April 15, 2008, at Countrybrook Living Center.

Mr. Carter was born in Dubach, La., on June 22, 1926, to Jessand Ludie Carter of Dubach.

He retired from Chevron, where he was employed for 38 years.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers,Leon Carter, Woodrow Carter, Allen Carter and Wilbur Carter; and byhis sister, Semilou Ackley.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Elkins Carter, ofBrookhaven; his daughter, Betsy Carter Watson, of Brookhaven; hisson, Herman Troyce (Troy) Carter Jr., of Brookhaven; his grandsons,Denny Brister and Dickey Brister, both of Brookhaven; hisgreat-grandsons, Darrin Brister, Jessie Brister and Colton Brister;and one great-granddaughter Kirsten Brister, all of Brookhaven; hissisters, Winnie Colvin, of West Monroe, La., and Jenell Colvin, ofDubach; and his best friend, Leland K. (Pete) Lightsey, ofBrookhaven.

Mr. Carter donated his body to science, giving to others indeath as he did in life. There will be no service at hisrequest.
