Jerry Lamar Andrews
Services for Jerry Lamar Andrews, of Jackson, will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Springhill Christian Center in Raymondwith burial in the church cemetery. Westhaven Memorial Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Andrews, 51, died April 27, 2008, at Central MississippiMedical Center.
He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors are his wife, Frances Andrews; his daughters, JerdellAndrews and Jessica Andrews, both of Jackson, and Jazmaine Andrewsof Terry; his mother, Hazel Andrews Chambers, of Bogue Chitto; hissister, Marcia Wilcher (Larry), of Brookhaven; his brothers, DanielAndrews, and Calvin Andrews (Patricia), all of Bogue Chitto; hisgrandchildren, Nicholas, Noah and Noell, of Jackson; and a hostnieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Frances Elaine Buie Powell
Services for Frances Elaine Buie Powell, of Baton Rouge, La.,will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at North McComb BaptistChurch with burial in Liberty Cemetery. The Rev. Lee Castello willofficiate. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge ofarrangements.
Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of theservice.
Mrs. Powell, 71, died May 1, 2008, at Sunrise of Baton RougeAssisted Living. She was born in McComb on Nov. 5, 1936, toPrentiss and Christine McDavid Buie. After losing her mother at anearly age, she was reared by her maternal grandparents, Ichamar andJessie McDavid.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse with over 30 years ofservice at Natchitoches Parish Hospital. She was a member of NorthMcComb Baptist Church and a former member of Natchitoches FirstBaptist Church, where she and her husband resided for 40 yearsbefore moving to McComb, and then to Baton Rouge nearly two yearsago.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, James Powell;her maternal grandparents; and her paternal grandparents, Odom andGertrude Buie.
Survivors are her husband, Thad Powell Jr., of Baton Rouge; hersons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Michelle Powell, of Central,La., and John and Eva Powell, of Chesapeake, Va.; her brothers andsisters-in-law, Sam and Evelyn Buie, of McComb, and Mike and JoannBuie, of Bogue Chitto; her sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia andMalcolm Walker, of Ruth; her grandchildren, Kyleigh, Brett, MaryElizabeth, Lauren, Krisi and Jack Powell; and numerous nieces andnephews.
