United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Casey Casanova, 22, ofMcComb, died May 3, 2008, in Iraq.

She was born March 27, 1986, in Metairie, La. She was thedaughter of Craig Lewis Casanova and Paula Carruth. She was amember of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in McComb. She attendedNorth Pike Middle School where she played in the band. She was agraduate of Bass Memorial Academy in Lumberton and graduated fromSouthwest Mississippi Community College where she was a singer andplayed steel drums in the stage band. She was a leader in the NewHeights Baptist Church youth group.

Her family said that Casey was a loving and very outgoingperson. She loved to spend time helping people. She spent a lot ofher time volunteering to feed the hungry. She was a selfless andgiving person and was a person that everyone loved and loved to bearound and she will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by an uncle, Kirk Bing.

Casey is survived by her mother, Paula Carruth, of McComb; hermaternal grandparents, John Paul and Kitty Carruth, of McComb; hermaternal great-grandmother, Ruth Williams Carruth, of Summit; herfiancĂ©, Corp. Brandon Henderson, of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; anuncle and aunt, Bruce Wayne “Batman” and Sandra Carruth, ofJefferson, La.; two cousins, Molly Ann Carruth and Bruce WayneCarruth Jr., both of Jefferson; her father, Craig Lewis Casanova,of St. Rose, La.; two sisters, Bailey and Alana Casanova, both ofSt. Rose; her paternal grandparents, Lynne Rivet, of New Orleans,and James Casanova, of Metairie.

Visitation will be Saturday at New Heights Baptist Church, 5140Highway 98 West, Summit, from 1 p.m. until services at 3 p.m. withPastor Chris Jones, Pastor Paul Clark and the Rev. Rick Kennedyofficiating. Burial with full military rites will be in AdamsUnited Methodist Church Cemetery in Auburn.

Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge ofarrangements.
