BA girls unbeaten in state

LIBERTY – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougar slowpitch softballteam captured the MPSA Class AA-AAA State Tournament Saturday.Brookhaven went through the double-elimination tournamentundefeated.
Brookhaven knocked off Adams County Christian School 7-2 in theopener, Amite School Center 6-1 in the second game and ASC 9-1 inthe title contest.
Coach Ricky Allen’s Lady Cougars finish the season with a 16-4record. Lindsey Nations (16-4) was the winning pitcher in thetourney.

Lauren Jordan powered Brookhaven with a double and a single.Ripping 2 singles each were Betsy Lynch, Laura Beth Wright, AnnaKatelyn Mangold, Kellie Brady, Layne Jordan and Laina Laird.Singling were Hannah Watts and Nations.
Brookhaven 6, Amite School Center 1
Powering Brookhaven with 3 singles was Lynch. Wright tripled andsingled. Kelli Snider singled twice. Hitting safely were Mangold,Layne Jordan, Lauren Jordan, Laird, Shelby Farmer and Nations.
Brookhaven 9, Amite School Center 1
In the championship game, Lynch directed Brookhaven with a homerun and single. Wright and Watts smashed a triple and singleapiece. Lauren Jordan doubled and singled. Singling twice wasSnider.
Following with a pair of singles each were Mangold, LayneJordan, Laird and Farmer. Brady and Nations singled.
