Suspect sought in early morning robbery at hotel

Brookhaven police are searching for a suspect in an earlyTuesday armed robbery at Lincoln Inn and Suites.

Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones said an unidentified man witha covering over his face walked into the hotel a little before 2:55a.m. and demanded money.

Jones said the man had a gun and left with an undisclosed amountof money from the cash register, as well as a lockbox with money init.

Someone at the nearby Krystal overheard the clerk yelling afterthe man’s escape and called police, officials said.

Jones said police are unsure in which direction the robber fled,or what method of transportation he used.

“It’s still under investigation of course,” Jones said.

Jones said the clerk gave a description of what she could see ofthe robber, and police are tracking down every lead.

“Any information the public can give us on this robbery, weappreciate,” Jones said.
