Norman Jordan Jr.

Services for Norman Jordan Jr., of Roxie, will be held at 1 p.m.on Saturday, May 31, at Bunkley Baptist Church in Meadville withburial in the church cemetery. Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Homein Hammond, La., is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church, and onSaturday until the time of the service.

Mr. Jordan, 66, died May 29, 2008, in Ponchatoula, La. He wasborn in New Orleans, La., on Sunday, Aug. 17, 1941, to NormanJordan Sr. and Pearl Wainwright Jordan.

He was a retired plumber and served in United States Army duringthe Korean Conflict. He loved his family and was an avidoutdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and his boat.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, MichaelWayne Jordan; and his daughter, Theresa Ann Jordan.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Pearl Jordan, of Roxie; his sons,Chet David Jordan, Chad Dwyane Jordan, and Chris Daniel Jordan; hisgrandson, Jarrett Dylan Jordan; his sister, Sharon Ann Reid; andnumerous nieces and nephews.

Earl Ray Lang

Graveside services for Earl Ray Lang, of Crystal Springs, willbe held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Tylertown Cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9a.m. until noon., at the funeral home, and at the cemetery from 2p.m. until the time of the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Lang, 65, died May 28, 2008, at his residence. He was bornin Walthall County on May 29, 1942, to Buford George Lang and NormaLee Brumfield Lang Stinson.

He was a car salesman.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers, Jeweland George Lang.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Page Lang, of Crystal Springs; hisdaughters, Belinda Helffrich, of Snellville, Ga., and AmandaWilliams, of Hattiesburg; his stepdaughter, Tammy Shields, ofHattiesburg; his brother, Albert Lang, of Tylertown; his sister,Donis Lang Allen, of Jackson, La.; his two granddaughters; his twograndsons; one stepgrandson; one great-grandson; and nieces andnephews.

Richard Ross Nelson

Richard Ross Nelson, of Temple, Texas, 67, died May 19, 2008, athis daughter’s residence in Brookhaven.

He was born on June 9, 1940, to Richard A. Nelson and VirginiaDofelmire Nelson, and was a former resident of Brookhaven.

He was retired from McLane in Temple. He was a longtime employeewith the former Southern Wholesale and transferred to Texas withthem.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his daughters, Marsha Winborne and husband Tim, ofBrookhaven, and Autumn McDonald and husband Tres, of Saltillo; hissister, Linda Johnson, of Seattle, Wash.; and his grandchildren,Jonathan Winborne, Jeremy Winborne, Joshua Winborne, all ofBrookhaven, and Alex McDonald, of Saltillo.

Services will be held in Kalispell, Mont., at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Children’sMiracle Network or Catch-A-Dream.

Charles Warren Shelton

Services for Charles Warren Shelton, of the McBride community inJefferson County, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, atBrookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial in the SheltonFamily Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Shelton, 57, died May 28, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn in Vicksburg on July 9, 1950, to Charles B. Shelton Jr. andMary Lucille Warren Shelton.

He was employed with Marathon LeTourneau in Vicksburg for 23years, and a poultry farmer for 16 years. He was a member of BlueHill Methodist Church. He was an active member and Hunt Master ofthe Blue Hill Hunting Club.

Preceding him in death were his father; his grandparents,Charlie B. Shelton and Velma Shelton, and Fred and Mae Warren.

Survivors are his wife, Debbie Faye Thorpe Shelton, of theMcBride community; his sons, Charles Warren Shelton Jr. and wifePatty, of McBride, Jason Baldwin Shelton and wife Mandy, of Wesson,and Michael Seth Shelton, of McBride; his mother, Mary LucilleWarren Shelton, of McBride; his brothers, Freddie Barrett Sheltonand wife Katie Ruth, of McBride, and Eddie Early Shelton and wifeLibby, of Meadville; his sisters, Ginger Shelton Copeland andLloyd, of Tifton, Ga., and Mary Velma Spears, of Brookhaven; hisgrandchildren, Lucas Baldwin Shelton and Warren Channell Shelton;and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jayden Xavier Vanosdol

Services for Jayden Xavier Vanosdol, of Brookhaven, will be heldat 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at thefuneral home.

Jayden, 7 1/2 months old, died May 27, 2008, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born on Oct. 11, 2007, to Jonathan Vanosdoland Samantha Rials Vanosdol, of Brookhaven.

He attended First Assembly of God.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Levi Vanosdol; hismaternal grandfather, Sammy Rials; his maternal great-grandfather,Eric Rials; his paternal great-grandfather, David Buff; hisgreat-grandfather, David Chafin; his great-great-grandfather,Norman Chafin; and his great-great-grandparents, Robert and HarrietWilliams and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Basco.

Survivors are his parents; his sister, Lexi Vanosdol; hispaternal grandparents, Johnny and Dolly Vanosdol, and Pete Bennett;his maternal grandparents, Michael and Paula Chafin; hisgreat-grandparents, Nancy Buff, Elsie Williams, Leo and ShirleyBasco, Randy and Lenora Vidrine and Dessie Chafin; and a number ofaunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

Jerelene Walker

Services for Jerelene Walker, of Brookhaven, will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on NatchezDrive with burial in Heuck’s Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Walker, 74, died May 29, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on Aug. 22, 1933, to James K. Smith andHollyce Smith Smith.

She was a retired telephone and switchboard operator, and adevoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Heuck’sRetreat Baptist Church, where she was an active member of herchurch and Sunday school class. She was a graduate of Loyd StarHigh School.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, William Lloyd Walker, of Brookhaven;her son, Jim Walker and wife Teresa, of Brookhaven; her brother,Curtis Smith, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Aileen Traxler andhusband Vic, of Utica, Peggy Porter and husband Carroll, of Flynn,Texas, Linda Faye Smith, and Charlotte Terrell and husband Robert,all of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Austin Walker, JessalynWalker and Emily Walker; a special niece, of Haley Terrell; and ahost of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Austin Walker, Will Lofton, Kevin Traxler,Dwight Traxler, Kendall Traxler and Jason Terrell.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Lofton, Vic Traxler, CarrollPorter and Robert Terrell.

Mack Morris Washington

Services for Mack Morris Washington, of Roxie, will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Zion Baptist Church in Roxie withburial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Washington, 87, died May 25, 2008, at Franklin CountyMemorial Hospital in Meadville. He was born in Franklin County onMay 20, 1921, to Hillary Washington and Ellen HolmesWashington.

He was a retired truck driver with Franklin County WasteManagement and Adams County Waste Management. He was also aself-employed logger. He was a member of Springhill BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, L.G.Washington and Henry Payne; and his sister, Bessie Marrow.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Thelma Weeks Washington, ofRoxie; his daughters, Ruth Watkins, of Roxie, Earline White andhusband Nita, and Marie Kelly, all of Natchez; his sons. the Rev.Alexander White and wife Liza, of Slidell, La., Mack MorrisWashington Jr. and wife Joyce, and Dale J. Starks, all of Roxie;his sister, Girlee Sanders and husband Melvin, of Roxie; and manygrandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
