Deward ‘Bumble Bee’ Dickerson

Deward James “Bumble Bee” Dickerson, 68, of the Moak’s Creekcommunity, died June 13, 2008, at Southwest Mississippi RegionalMedical Center. He was born February 18, 1940, in Fernwood. He wasthe son of Fredrick William Dickerson and Florence ElizabethRitchie Dickerson. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. AirForce veteran. He was a member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infantbrother.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Lorena CockerhamDickerson, of Moak’s Creek; five children and their spouses, Angelaand Michael Smith, of Jetson, Ky., Freddie Dickerson and Darrel andTammy Dickerson, all of Moak’s Creek, Denise and Fred Jointer ofWesson and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith, of Brookhaven; one brotherand his wife, Denver Daniel and Dean Dickerson, of Pine Grove, La.;five grandchildren, Kassi Dickerson, Faith Dickerson, Scott Smithand wife, Lea Ann, Missy Bigner and husband, David, and Cody Smith;and six great-grandchildren, Dalton Bigner, Joshua Bigner, JacobBigner, Nick Smith, Jestin Smith and Leslea Smith.
Visitation is Monday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McCombfrom 5 until 8 p.m. and continues Tuesday at Moak’s Creek BaptistChurch from 10 until services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Adamsonand the Rev. Mike Alexander officiating. Burial will be in thechurch cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Dickerson, Freddie Dickerson, HowardSmith, Dewayne Dickerson, Michael Smith, Bill Dickerson, KeithCockerham and Daniel Dickers. Honorary pallbearers will be EdwinJohnson and Bustin Dickerson.
