Services for James Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Tuesday,July 1, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial inFriendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Smith, 74, died June 29, 2008, at his residence. He was bornon March 16, 1924, to Robert Lee Smith and Blanch C. Smith.

He was in the oil and construction fields. He was chief engineerin maintenance and retired after 20 years from King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Hewas in the United States Navy and was on the U.S. Custer as agunner during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr. Smith enjoyedcountry living, raising cattle, fishing, turkey hunting, andespecially deer hunting with friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers and theirwives, Harvey R. Smith and Winnie Smith, and Randolph Smith andLouise.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Annie Clara Case Smith; hisnephew, Paul Preston Smith and wife, Lola Jean Smith, of Natchez;his nieces, Neta Fay Case and husband, Dennis Case, of Baton Rogue,Veda Grace Britt and husband, Dykes Britt, and Brenda Joyce Caseand husband, Harry S. Case, of Brookhaven; his sister-in-law, LoyceT. Smith, of Bogue Chitto; and many very special family members andfriends that have stood by so faithful.
