Services for Billie Jean Rutledge, of Brookhaven, are 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, July 9, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Miss Rutledge, 68, died July 4, 2008, at Silver Cross Home inBrookhaven. She was born in Epps, La., on Oct. 10, 1939, to Sam W.Rutledge and Bethel Ann Mathis Rutledge.

She was a 1957 Loyd Star High School graduate and a 1959Copiah-Lincoln Junior College graduate. She graduated from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degreein 1963. She was active with the Loyd Star Foundation. MissRutledge was an Eastern Airlines ticket agent and also worked forSATO Travel of New Orleans, where she was awarded Employee of theYear in 1997 by the Military Navy Central Group.

She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where shewas the secretary of the B.A.L.L. Club and held otherpositions.

Preceding her in death were her father and a brother, Donald W.Rutledge.

Survivors are her mother; a brother, Rudolph F. Rutledge; asister-in-law, Dorothy Rutledge; her uncles and aunts, RobertMathis, Janie Britt, Pauline and Johnny Cunningham, Betty and JewelSmith and Audrey Rutledge Long; her niece, Kay Rutledge; hernephews, Ian W. Rutledge and William Glenn Rutledge; her specialfriend, Betty Lou Eickenloff; and many other relatives and verydear friends.
