Services for Billie Jean Rutledge, of Brookhaven, were 10:30a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is incharge of arrangements.

Miss Rutledge, 68, died July 4, 2008, at Silver Cross Home inBrookhaven. She was born in Epps, La., on Oct. 10, 1939, to Sam W.Rutledge and Bethel Ann Mathis Rutledge.

She was a 1957 Loyd Star High School graduate and a 1959Copiah-Lincoln Junior College graduate. She graduated from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in1963. She was active with the Loyd Star Foundation. Miss Rutledgewas an Eastern Airlines Ticket Agent and also worked for SATOTravel of New Orleans, where she was awarded Employee of the Yearin 1997 by the Military Navy Central Group.

She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where shewas the secretary of the B.A.L.L. Club and held otherpositions.

Preceding her in death were her father and a brother, Donald W.Rutledge.

Survivors are her mother; a brother, Rudolph F. Rutledge; asister-in-law, Dorothy Rutledge; her uncles and aunts, RobertMathis, Mary Jean Mathis, Janie Britt, Pauline and JohnnyCunningham, Betty and Jewel Smith and Audrey Rutledge Long; herniece, Kay Rutledge; her nephews, Ian W. Rutledge and William GlennRutledge; her special friend, Betty Lou Eickenloff; and many otherrelatives and very dear friends.
