Knight bringing hope to Enterprise basketball

New Enterprise boys basketball coach John Knight says he islooking forward to coaching the Yellow Jackets. He moves to theLincoln County school from Amite County.
“It is going to be a great move for me,” said Knight. ” I amexcited about it. I am looking forward to working in the LincolnCounty School District.”
Knight, 26, is moving from Amite County in Liberty. He grew upin Liberty and attended Amtie School Center.
At ASC, he was coached by Eddie Hardee and was All-District hisjunior and senior years. He is a graduate of ASC and Ole Miss, witha degree in ducation
Knight coached boys basketball at Amite County for 3 years,including the girls team one year. He played all sports in highschool. He was a running back in football, a forward/center inbasketball and a catcher in baseball.
He taught special education at Amite County. He is married toMarcie Johnston of West Lincoln.
Enterprise principal Shannon Eubanks said he was happy to haveKnight on his staff.
“Coach Knight is somebody who I had tried to get to Enterprise afew years ago. He has been successful at Amite County in Class 2Aand 3A. He had some stiff competition. I feel confident he will doa good job for us.”
Knight took the Trojans to the state playoffs three straightyears.
He replaces Josh Bass who coached Enterprise for three years.The Yellow Jackets finished 3-26 last season and were 0-12 inDivision 6-2A. It was Enterprise’s most wins in several years.
“Coach Knight is disciplined and believes in doing things theright way,” said Eubanks. “We still have a very young team. Histeaching and discipline will benefit us this season and in thefuture.”
Knight will teach government economics and possible socialstudies.
