Police seeking suspect in armed robbery

Brookhaven Police are searching for an unknown suspect in aTuesday morning armed robbery of a Monticello Street conveniencestore.

Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said a lone black malewalked into the Stop and Shop Grocery and Market at 923 EastMonticello St. around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. He said the suspect, whowas wearing a mask, displayed a weapon and demanded the clerk givehim money.

“He took an undisclosed amount of money from the store,”Henderson said. “Then as far as we know he left on foot, goingnorth behind the store.”

Henderson said the suspect is a black male, around 5 feet 10inches tall. He said the suspect was wearing a short-sleeved blackT-shirt with a long-sleeved white T-shirt underneath it, blackpants and a baseball cap.

Henderson said more details will be available as theinvestigation unfolds.

“We’d like to ask that anyone in that area around that time whomight have seen something give us a call,” he said.
