Woman found dead in chicken house

A New Hebron woman is dead after sustaining what appeared to bea gunshot wound to the upper right chest, Lawrence County officialssaid Saturday.
Lawrence County Coroner Sydney Fortenberry said Lisa Davis, 43,of New Hebron, was found on the farm where she lived with herhusband, Jesse Treeino. He said she appeared to have been shot inthe chest.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Captain Ray Smith said thehusband is being held in connection with the shooting of his wife,and that more details would be released as the investigationunfolds.
Fortenberry said Davis and Treeino lived at a farm called J.L.Polk’s Farm, located off North Pleasant Hill Road in LawrenceCounty. He said the farm, which has no known street address, hadseveral chicken houses on the property.
“When I got out to the farm, she was lying in the middle of thechicken house,” Fortenberry said. “The cause of the death is stillunder investigation and it has not been determined whether this isan accident or a homicide.”
Fortenberry said the ambulance crew received the call at 10:43 a.m.and called him, and that Davis was pronounced dead on the scene. Anautopsy will be performed, he said.
Davis’ mother lived with her, and she had two young adult children,Fortenberry said.
