What a difference a game makes. The host Enterprise Lady YellowJackets authored their initial win of the young 2008 campaign,shutting out the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 5-0 Tuesday evening inslowpitch softball. Lacey Orr (2 Ks, 0 BB,) picked up the win on 63pitches. She also had a single and 2 RBIs at the plate.

Enterprise (1-1) travels to McComb Thursday. Brookhaven (0-2)hosts North Pike Thursday.

Enterprise 5, Brookhaven 0

Enterprise, coached by Steve Sasser, were looking to rebound;following their 14-0 shutout at the hands of Bogue Chitto Saturdayafternoon in the West Lincoln Classic.

“We were not a very good ballclub Saturday,” said Coach Sasser.”We improved a lot from that game. Our girls did a great job ondefense today; shutting out a good Brookhaven team.”

Sasser’s squad took a 2-0 lead in their half of the first. KarlaHux and Ashley Greer both reached on consecutive fielding errors bythe Lady Panthers. Samantha Richardson’s fielder’s choiceground-out to first advanced Hux and Greer to third and secondrespectively. Orr’s singled scored Hux. Kolbi Lewis reached on afielder’s choice that plated Greer.

According to Ole Brook head coach Lisa Covington, defense wasthe key to the game. “Enterprise played great on defense tonight.We have to score runs to win games.”

The Jackets used a 3-run fifth to extend their lead to 5-0. With1 out, Kaitlyn Moak singled. Hux doubled. Greer’s doubled scoredMoak and Hux. Richardson singled. Orr’s sacrifice fly to rightfield scored Greer.

“We got some good hits,” Coach Sasser said following the game.”Now we have to get to face a much-improved McComb ballclubThursday.”

For the Lady Panthers, Hannah Lowman, Brianna Ashmore, SabrinaDelaughter, Erica Bridwell and Sarah Ayers collected base hits.Ashmore (0-2) suffered the loss on the mound.

Lending support in the Enterprise attack was Greer with asingle, a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Lewis singled twice.Singles were issued by Richardson, Moak and Ann Marie Cole.

In the JV game, Enterprise posted an 11-1 win over Brookhaven.Enterprise got singles from Haley Brazelle, Seilant McEIvain, KaseyMathas (2), and Robin Douglas. Brazelle, Amy Lambert and Tyler Boydeach had a double.

Brookhaven got base hits from Erica Lenior, Shelby Case,Shareeka Hill and Heather Daw.

Nicole Smith (1 K, 3 BB) picked up the win for Enterprise.Brooke Hosick (1 K, 4 BB) took the loss for Brookhaven.
