Services for Lois Jones Russell, of Monticello, were 2 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 16, at Monticello Baptist Church with burial inCarmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in chargeof arrangements.

Mrs. Russell, 85, died Aug. 14, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn on Jan. 1, 1923, to Lawrence Milton Jones and Lula BusbyJones. She was a resident of Monticello for the past 55 years andcame from Wayne County.

She was a retired school teacher after 36 years in Wayne County,Monticello High School and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Shewas a member of Monticello Baptist Church, where she was involvedin the W.M.U. and was teacher of the Faithful Workers Sunday schoolclass. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the LawrenceCounty Historical Society.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Wendell Russell; threebrothers; and two sisters.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and JoRussell, of Beach City, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law,Elizabeth and Kenny Bellande, of Monticello; her brother, the Rev.Mack P. Jones, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Albert Ray Jones, ofClara; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
