R.C. Caston

Services for R.C. Caston, of Yazoo City and formerly ofBrookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Beulah Church Chapelwith burial in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 1 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuarywith family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Caston, 70, died Aug. 19, 2008, in Yazoo City. He was bornin Bogue Chitto on Aug. 13, 1938, to Curtis Caston and FannieMilton.

He was a retired logger. He was a member of Beulah ChapelChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, SheliaKelly; and his brother, Clifton Cook.

Survivors are his son, Julius Watson and wife, Marie, ofBrookhaven; his brothers, Mack Caston and James Earl Caston, bothof Yazoo City, and Willie Caston and wife, Ruby, of Brookhaven; hissisters, Allie Mae Morris, of Detroit, Mich., Bertha Smith andhusband, Belbert, of Brookhaven, and Rosetta Butler, Mary AnnPorter and Lavia Caston, all of Natchez; five grandchildren; fivegreat-grandchildren; his special friends, Odessia Ketchen and DorisGrandberry, both of Yazoo City; and many other relatives andfriends.

Viana Wallace Thornhill

Services for Viana Wallace Thornhill, of Hammond, La., were 2p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel onNatchez Drive with burial in Mallalieu United Methodist ChurchCemetery. The Rev. Charles Brister Jr. officiated.

Mrs. Thornhill, 77, died Aug. 21, 2008, at North Oaks MedicalCenter in Hammond. She was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 27, 1930,to Noel Wallace and Cordia Allred Wallace.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mallalieu UnitedMethodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, BentonWallace and Garlon Wallace; and her sister, Nevelyn MontgomeryNetterville.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Wesley Thornhill, ofHammond; her son, Ricky Thornhill and wife, Denise, of Duson, La.;her daughter, Terry Tompkins and husband, David, of Hammond; hersisters, Linda Harris, of Marrero, La., Dimple Hughes, ofBrooksville, Fla., and Debby Cox, of Lake Charles, La.; herbrothers, Nolan Wallace, of Summit, and Stewart Wallace, ofNatchez; her grandchildren, Trent Tompkins and wife, Brittany, ofHammond, and Chance Thornhill and Amanda Thornhill, both ofLafayette, La.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry Thornhill, Roy Thornhill, CurtisThornhill, Charlie Moody, Mark Harris and Timmy Womack.
