Services for John Luper Miller Jr., of Silver Creek, are 2 p.m.Sunday, Sept. 21, at Calvary Baptist Church in Silver Creek withburial in Silver Creek Methodist Church Cemetery. Wilson FuneralHome is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Miller, 83, died Sept. 18, 2008, at Lawrence County NursingCenter. He was born in Silver Creek on Sept. 25, 1924, to JohnLuper Miller Sr. and Myrtle Davis Miller.

He was a 1949 graduate of Mississippi State College and aretired accountant for Bell Telephone Company. He was a member ofCalvary Baptist Church and a former member of Monticello BaptistChurch.

He was also a member of Telephone Pioneers and a Gideon. Heserved in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist’s mate 3C.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, WayneMiller and Davis Miller; and his sister, Connie Lee.

Survivors are his wife, Rebecca Sauls Miller; his sons, RichardMiller, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Tom Miller, of Bethany, Okla.;his daughters, Nancy Farner, of Marietta, Ga., and Virginia Johns,of Canton, Ga.; his brother, Kelly Miller, of Silver Creek; hissister, Carolyn Lee, of Ridgeland; and five grandchildren.
