The unbeaten Bogue Chitto Bobcats return to the friendlyconfines of Troy Smith Field Friday night for a Region 4-1A matchupwith the Stringer Red Devils. The game begins at 7 p.m.

In other Lincoln County action, Lawrence County is atBrookhaven, Enterprise travels to Madison St. Joseph and WestLincoln invades Dexter.

Bogue Chitto, under Coach Garreth Sartin, pounded NatchezCathedral 44-14 last week. The Bobcats are 5-0 in district play and5-0 on the season.

Stringer (2-2, 2-2) is coming off a lopsided 41-3 districtvictory over the West Lincoln Bears.

“Stringer is huge,” said Sartin. “They have big offensive anddefensive linemen. They also have a really good running back No. 23(Evin Gavin). He is very strong runner. He is fast in the openfield. No. 14 (Marcus Bolton) looks like he can catch anythingthrown to him.

“It will be a big defensive test for us at home,” said Sartin.”We have to limit turnovers and keep them from making big plays. Itis always good to play at home. It’s a big advantage. We hope for abig crowd. It’s a big district game.”

In the win over Cathedral, Bogue Chitto was powered by juniorrunning back Byron Kersee with 18 rushes for 102 yards and atouchdown. Junior quarterback Seth Avants rushed 8 times for 70yards and scored a TD. Following was Cole Laird with 53 yards on 6carries. Brian Robinson returned a kickoff 85 yards for atouchdown.

In the air, Avants completed 8 of 10 passes for 104 yards. Hewsselected The DAILY LEADER’S Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensively, the Bobcats were led by James Anderson with 10tackles. Making 9 stops was Josh Graham. Colton McClendon andKersee finished with 7 tackles apiece.

In last year’s game, Bogue Chitto was a 40-28 victor overStringer.

Enterprise is coming off a tough Region 6-2A 38-31 loss atWesson. The Yellow Jackets, under first-year coach Wayne Rogers,are on the road at Madison to face the St. Joe Bruins.

In last week’s game, McLaurin whipped St. Joe 59-21.

Rogers compared his team to St. Joe. “St. Joe is a lot like weare. They are fairly young. They have a young wide out, StanBeasley, who is a good receiver. Steven Coffer is a running backand he is their go-to guy. They try to get the ball to him.

“We got a good overall effort last week,” continued Rogers.”Hopefully it will carry over this week.”

In their loss to Wesson, Enterprise was powered by Cody Bristerwith 22 carries for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brister alsocompleted 4 of 13 passes for 42 yards. Deon Pendleton rushed 18times for 119 yards and scored a pair of TDs.

On defense, the Jackets were led by Taylor Herrington with 14tackles.Travis Leggett collected 13 tackles.

Last season, St. Joseph knocked off Enterprise 25-6

Winless West Lincoln is still looking for its first win when theBears (0-5, 0-3) travel to Dexter (1-4, 1-4) for a meeting with theBulldogs in Region 4-1A play.

West Lincoln, under first-year coach Chris Calcote, lost toStringer 44-3 last week. Dexter defeated Salem 22-2 for its firstwin of the season.

“Dexter is real athletic,” said Calcote. “They probably are50-50 running and passing. Dexter is in the win column and we aretrying. Dexter has the momentum. It’s a tough game for us becauseof the speed matchup.”

In the loss to Stringer, Calvin Kees rushed 11 times for 52yards for West Lincoln. Tyler Trout kicked a 29-yard fieldgoal.

On defense, the Bears were led by Jamie Rushing with 5 solo and5 assists. Matt Magee had 2 tackles and 7 assists.

Dexter put away West Lincoln 48-14 in last year’s contest.
