The Bogue Chitto Bobcats, the Enterprise Yellow Jackets and theLoyd Star Hornets celebrate homecoming Friday night. Bogue Chittoentertains Mt. Hermon (La.), Enterprise hosts St. Andrew’s and LoydStar entertains Madison St. Joe. All games begin at 7 p.m.
In other Lincoln County games, West Lincoln invades St. Aloysiusin Vicksburg.
Brookhaven has an open date this week.
Bogue Chitto (6-2, 6-2) put together a big 40-29 Region 4-1A winover Pisgah last week. The Bobcats, under Garreth Sartin, meetnon-division opponent Mt. Hermon.
“This is Mt. Hermon’s first year in varsity competition,” saidSartin. “They have a very good athlete at quarterback. They havetwo or three kids that can catch the ball. They do a little ofboth, spread 4 wide set, then an I set and run the option out ofit.
“A big game for us,” added Sartin. “We want to stay focused onthe game because of all the distractions. We got back on winningtrack this week.”
In the win over Pisgah, Bogue Chitto was led by Byron Kerseewith 15 carries for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Quarterback SethAvants rushed 15 times for 118 yards and scored a TD and a 2-pointconversion.
The Bobcat offensive line features Shane Lewis at left tackle,Tevin Tobias at left guard, Rico Wells at center, Lenell Bryant atright guard and DAILY LEADER Defensive Player of the Week FredTillman at right tackle.
On defense, Tillman led the Bobcats with 14 tackles and a sack.Wells and Kersee finished with 11 tackles.
Enterprise (1-7, 0-4) is coming off a tough 34-22 Region 6-2Aloss at the hands of McLaurin. The Yellow Jackets, under first-yearhead coach Wayne Rogers, faces a strong St. Andrew’s squad.
St. Andrew’s (6-2, 6-0) posted a 30-7 region victory over LoydStar last week.
“St. Andrew’s has a good football team,” said Rogers. “They arevery smart kids. They adapt to changes very quick. They have verygood athletes. David Bradberry does a good job there.
“We keep playing hard each week,” added Rogers. “It’s two orthree plays a game that determine the outcome. It’s homecoming. Weexpected a large crowd.”
Working on the Enterprise offensive line are Jarrett Todd andMichael Prather at end; Tyson ‘Chico’ Rials, Travis Leggett andJustin Bateman at tackle; Jake Walker, Taylor Allen and KevinBrizzard at guard and Jake Walker and Grant Burke at center.
In the loss at McLaurin, Enterprise quarterback Cody Brister ledthe ground game with 22 carries for 124 yards and scored atouchdown. Deon Pendleton rushed 16 times for 40 yards and 2touchdowns.
Defensively, Taylor Herrington directed Enterprise with 9tackles, followed by Travis Leggett with 8 stops and a fumblerecovery.
Last season, St. Andrew’s thumped Enterprise 31-18.
Loyd Star (2-5, 1-3) is looking for better results when St. Joecomes to town for an important Region 6-2A test.
St. Joe (2-6, 1-3) dropped a 24-12 (2 OT) decision to Class 1AVicksburg St. Al last Friday.
Loyd Star head coach Ryan Ross talked about St. Joe. “They are awell coached football team. They have a bunch of smart kids. Theywon’t beat themselves.
” We cannot turn it over and beat ourselves,” added Ross. “Weare excited to be back at home.”
In the loss to St. Andrew’s, the Loyd Star offense was directedby Tradareous Wilson with 18 rushes for 77 yards. Carrying 10 timesfor 59 yards was Marquis Hayes. Quarterback Joseph Shelby scoredthe only TD.
The Hornet defense includes Grant Britt at tackle. Cody Lanhamat nose guard. Clint Scott at quick tackles, T.J. Floyd and JoshSmith are ends.
Defensively, David Fields and Andrew Rushing paced the Hornetswith 12 tackles apiece. Preston Hebert had 10 tackles.
In last year’s game, St. Joseph knocked off Loyd Star 28-7.
West Lincoln (0-7, 0-8) travels to Vicksburg to meet Region 4-1Afoe St. Aloysius. The Bears, under first-year coach Chris Calcote,are coming off a 27-8 division loss to Pelahatchie.
Last week, St Al (6-2, 5-2) put away Class 2A St. Joe.
“St. Al is 6-2,” said Calcote. “They are well disciplined and doa lot of things right. They run and pound it at you. It is going totake a good effort to beat them.”
In the loss to Pelahatchie, Cardell Porter sparked the Bearsrunning game with 15 carries for 104 yards and a TD.
Working on the offensive line for the Bears are Joseph and JoshHoward at tackle, Casey Lofton at tight end, Daniel Wallace atcenter and Cole Wallace and Grant Rushing at guard.
On defense, West Lincoln’s Grant Rushing led the way with 7tackles. Nathaniel Pruski followed with 6 tackles.
In last season’s contest, St. Al beat West Lincoln 56-38.
