Arrest made in Thursday burglary

Brookhaven police have made an arrest in a burglary of acommercial building that took place last Thursday morning, PoliceChief Pap Henderson said.

Matthew L. Nelson, 22, of 401 Industrial Park Road, is beingheld in Lincoln County Jail on charges of burglary after heallegedly broke into Lincoln Truck Parts on Highway 51 earlyThursday morning. He broke a small window in the back to gainaccess to the building and took some merchandise from thebusiness.

Henderson said the crime is still under investigation, and thatthere is a possibility that Nelson can be tied to other recentrobberies in the area.

Meanwhile, police are also looking into an armed robbery thattook place at the Kasko Truck Stop on Union Street Extension earlyMonday morning.

Henderson said a black male walked into the convenience storeside of the buisiness wearing a mask.

“He displayed a handgun and asked the clerk for money,”Henderson said.

After taking an undisclosed sum of cash, Henderson said thesuspect fled northeast on foot. So far police do not have anysuspects in the crime.
