Hornets dump W. Lincoln

The undefeated Loyd Star Hornet varsity boys basketball teamhanded the host West Lincoln Bears a 50-42 loss Saturday in JackCase Gymnasium. Loyd Star is 12-0 on the season.

In the girls game, Loyd Star rallied in the second half andclipped West Lincoln 44-37.

Loyd Star hosts Division 6-2A rival Enterprise Tuesday for fourgames. The junior high girls begin at 4 p.m. followed by the JVboys at 5, the varsity girls at 6 and the boys at 7:30.

Loyd Star 50, West Lincoln 42

“We were tired,” said Loyd Star boys coach Gene (Moochie) Brittin reference to Friday night’s win at Madison St. Joseph. “WestLincoln played good. They slowed down the game. We went to thehalf-court trap after halftime to get things going.”

Powering Loyd Star with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3assists was Ashton Fox.

Brett Rushing directed Coach Lane Young’s West Lincoln boys with14 points.

Loyd Star 44, West Lincoln 37

Coach Billy Vaughn’s 10-2 Lady Hornets were powered by centerHaley Sones who had a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds. ShannonChester finished with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Lady Bears got 13 points from Tatianna Marshall and 10 fromJulie Case. They led 18-17 at halftime.

Junior high boys

West Lincoln knocked off Loyd Star 36-20. Darius Clark led WestLincoln with 11 points. Trevion Kees scored 10 points followed byJared Case with 9.

Loyd Star got 10 point from Hunter Hooge. Dylan Smith finishedwith 6.
